Obituary for SCOTT LEE REICHARD

SCOTT LEE REICHARD, beloved father, husband, brother, nephew, cousin, son-in-law and brother-in-law, friend and German Shepherd owner, died on Aug. 17, 2018. He was a rare man who will be deeply missed.
Scott was born prematurely on Sept. 23, 1975, and doctors initially feared he might not survive. Scott showed them by growing up to wear size 16 boots as he worked tirelessly with enormous physical strength.
He lived most of his life in Lakewood, where much of the family hailed from (he was one of four generations of the family to attend Lakewood High). In his teenage years he became a car nut, first turning his great-grandmother’s Dodge Dart into a hotrod and later graduating to Ford Mustangs after his mother owned a GT for a time. If it had wheels and an engine, Scott loved it.He met his future wife, Joyce, while in high school, and they had a son, Scott Jr., who grew up to inherit his dad’s passion for cars. After his mother died, Scott stayed close to his family roots and moved into her house. When he and Joyce moved out of Lakewood recently, it was to be closer to her family. Family was always first in his mind and planning. In his work, Scott Sr. had an engineer’s brain—he was at his happiest taking on machines and practical problems, which he grasped with incredible speed and insight. He had in recent years become a licensed professional electrician.
He was deeply intelligent and had a quick wit but was reserved and modest. Scott was never a show-off, but when he did a job, it was always right. Much more than being excellent at his work, he was profoundly moral, steadfast and loyal. All who knew him would say he was among the most honest people they’d ever encountered, and without exception he thought of others before himself. Like his mother, he had a huge heart for both people and animals, and it is his loving generosity and compassion that will be most remembered. His wife and his son were the greatest joys of his life. He and Joyce worked hand in hand to support each other to raise an exceptional son. Their dedication to each other and their son is a lesson to all and will live on. Scott is survived by his wife, Joyce; his son, Scott Jr.; his brother, Will, and Will’s wife, KayLynn; Uncle Foot, Archie (Kathy)his cousins, Sally, Tom (Cindy) David (Casey), Janine (Tyrone), Jeffrey (Jennifer), Abbey, and Austin; in laws, Earl and Debbie; brother-in-law, Chris (Jessica), niece Allie, nephew James, German Shepherd Casey, and many other relatives. A public remembrance will be held Friday, Aug. 24, from 1 to 4 pm at Bain Cabin. 21077 N Park Dr., Fairview Park. The family suggests memorial contributions to Ohio Troopers Coalition, Inc. (www.ohiotroopers.org/donation.html) or Northeast Ohio SPCA (northeastohiospca.org)
