ROSALYN (ROZ) HEDMAN died on January 24, 2019. Her family was with her. Although she was born in Oberlin, Ohio on July 5, 1948, Roz spent her early years in Perth, Western Australia, her mother Joy’s home, in the care of her grandmother, Johanna Myers. She met her husband, Kent, in 1983. Roz and Kent lived in Bratenahl, Ohio for 30 years where their son, Peter, grew up. Raised with a gentle but keen sense of propriety, Roz was a private person, even to her friends; but she was known for her curiosity, elegance, kindness and wit. She loved family events, gardening, birding adventures, fires in the fireplace, Lindy Creek, crosswords, and her cats. As a Mensa, she valued education and learning above all things. As an independent woman she worked throughout her adult life. She was a loving wife and mother, a supportive daughter, a loyal friend, a free spirit. Now she has flown. She is free. We, her family, miss her. We will love her forever. Roz was predeceased by her mother, Joy, whom she cared for to the very end. She is survived by her husband, Kent, her son, Peter, her step daughter, Lang Reasenberg, her brother, Jon Normile, her school chums from her Freeville days, her fellow parents from Ruffing Montessori, and her colleagues from her working life. A celebration of remembrance for her time with us will be held on June 8, 2019, at the Pavilion, Holden Arboretum, 9500 Sperry Road, Kirtland, Ohio. We will say good-bye to Roz and welcome the warmth of summer. Her friends are invited to join us then from 2 to 4 PM. Donations in her honor may be made to the Seidman Cancer Center, University Hospital, Cleveland; Hospice of the Western Reserve, Cleveland; and Doctors Without Borders.
