Obituary for JENNIFER LAINE BUCK

Jennifer Laine Buck

On Wednesday, October 2, 2019, Jennifer Laine Buck passed away at the age of 37 after a life-long battle with congenital heart problems. Jennifer was born on May 12, 1982. She graduated from Bay High School, attended The Ohio State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cleveland State University with a major in Economics and minor in Math. She recently began the Executive MBA program at Cleveland State University. Jennifer worked at 5/3 Bank for 15 years where she was currently a support team manager for the commercial middle markets team for northern Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, West Virginia, and Missouri.

Jennifer is survived by her parents Barbara E. Taylor and Gerald A. Buck (Eileen), sister Kristen Minichello (John), nephew Dominic, and niece Liza along with aunts and uncles and cousins. Jennifer was blessed to have many great friends that she loved dearly and was deeply devoted to.

Jennifer was an activist for Women’s Rights, LGBTQ+ rights, Accessible and Affordable Health Care, Fair and Equal Pay, and Voting Rights. She practiced yoga, loved hiking in the Metroparks, and visiting Edgewater Beach. She was an avid traveller while championing all that her hometown of Cleveland had to offer. She was a fan of Cleveland Sports, Welshly Arms, Sofar Sounds, art, and musical theater. She loved promoting local small businesses, especially the work of her friends. She lived with courage, finding joy in every day, loving her family and friends, and seeing others for the best of who they were. As she recently wrote, “We are better together when we love one another for our true selves.”

Jennifer was the co-chair for the Young Professionals Business Resource Group at 5/3 Bank and a member of the Women’s and Multi-Cultural Business Resource Group. She organized 5/3 Bank’s involvement with the American Heart Association, Pride and Shanerock. She volunteered for Junior Achievement and Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. She was working to help Colors+ Youth Center provide support for LGBTQ+ youth. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Jennifer, her family requests donations to Colors +, 21139 Lorain Road #12, Fairview Park, Ohio 44126 (colorsplus.org) or the American Heart Association (heart.org).

A Celebration of Jennifer’s Life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Bay Presbyterian Church, 25415 Lake Road in Bay Village at 3:00 PM.
