Obituary for WILLIAM E. KARNATZ, Sr.

WILLIAM E. KARNATZ, Sr., age 80, loving husband of Carol (Nee Toomey); devoted father of Maureen Smith (Stephen), Anne Manno (Joe), William E., Jr. (Lisa), Patty Ramey (Mark) and Liz O’Callaghan (Michael); dear grandpa of Meghan, Kevin and Bridget; Michael, Tom, Lizzie and John; Jack, Emma, Gracie and Eleanor; Justin (Becky); Brenna and Ian; brother of Mary Ellen Cerny; uncle, brother-in-law and friend to many. Bill graduated from Cathedral Latin High School in 1955, John Carroll University in 1959 and Case Western Reserve School of Law in 1962. He was a US Army Veteran. He was a long-time bank executive at KeyBank and engaged in the private practice of law 20 plus years. He was involved in many professional organizations and held leadership roles in a variety of non-profit institutions including University Hospitals, Marymount Hospital, St. Augustine Manor, Magnificat High School, Catholic Charities and St. Raphael Parish and School. He was a long-time parishioner at St. Raphael and Holy Spirit Parishes. Passed away, Monday, January 1, 2018. Funeral Mass, St. Raphael Church (525 Dover Center Rd., Bay Village), Saturday, Jan. 6th at 12:30 pm. Interment Private. Friends may call at the McGORRAY-HANNA FUNERAL HOME OF WESTLAKE, 25620 Center Ridge Rd. (West of Columbia), FRIDAY from 2 – 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to William E. and Carol S. Karnatz endowed Scholarship Fund at Magnificat High School, 20770 Hilliard Blvd, Rocky River, OH 44116., or St. Raphael School Scholarship Fund, 525 Dover Center Rd., Bay Village OH 44140.
